SEC Tarlac welcomes ASEAN Capital Market regulators as Philippines Hosts ACMF Meeting

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)–Tarlac Extension Office welcomed delegates of the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) at Clark International Airport as they departed for Coron, Palawan, the venue of this year’s ACMF Meeting.

The delegation is composed of capital market regulators from across ASEAN, including representatives from Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan), the Securities and Exchange Commission Thailand, the Sustainable Finance Institute Asia of Singapore, and the Philippine delegation from the SEC and the Department of Finance.

The ACMF is a high-level forum of capital market regulators from all ten ASEAN member states—Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Established in 2004 under the ASEAN Finance Ministers, the forum works to promote the development of deep, liquid, and integrated capital markets across the region.

To address differing levels of market development among member countries, the ACMF adopts a pragmatic, opt-in approach to its initiatives, allowing participation based on each market’s readiness.

This year is a milestone for the Philippines as the SEC officially assumes the chairship of the ACMF, underscoring the country’s expanding leadership role in advancing regional capital market cooperation.
