A total of 100 students of Concepcion Holy Cross College, Inc. (CHCCI) completed the seminar on proper management of funds and investments, and ways to identify the red flags of investment scams.

SEC-TAREO Director Richard Laus reiterated that the roadshow aims to help the public, particularly the youth, ensure their financial security and safeguard their money from the illegal or unauthorized investment schemes.

He added that equipping the youth with the knowledge and skills on financial principles and practices could prevent them from falling victim to different types of investment fraud such as the Pyramid and Ponzi schemes.

“The SEC is encouraging the public through our investor education campaigns to be vigilant in entertaining any investment opportunity by verifying and checking the legitimacy of these investments with the Commission, and I also urged everyone to consider the risks before investing,” he stressed.

For his part, CHCCI School of Business Administration Dean Jonathan Pacifico expressed his gratitude to SEC-TAREO for collaborating with their school to empower students on how to achieve financial freedom.

Pacifico stated that he looks forward to strengthening their partnership on capacity-building programs to further heighten students’ awareness on financial literacy and investor protection.

The roadshow is in line with the commission’s celebration of Investor Protection Week, and carries the theme, “From Struggling to SECure: Entering your Financial Freedom Era through Smart and Sustainable Investments”. (PIA 3)
