Approximately 300 pets received free vaccinations from the Provincial Government of Pampanga, headed by Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, in celebration of World Rabies Day last Friday, September 27.
The vaccination drive, conducted for both dogs and cats, was led by the Provincial Veterinary Office to support the governor’s initiative to reduce rabies cases and ensure community safety.
On behalf of the governor, 4th District Board Member Pol Balingit highlighted the importance of animal care and rabies prevention.
The event also featured lectures on rabies and responsible pet ownership by Dr. Amelito Canlas of DOH Central Luzon, PESU Pampanga Head Jolly Garcia, and Provincial Animal Rabies Coordinator Jasmin Manlutac.
Data from the Pampanga Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) revealed that as of September 2024, animal bite cases reached 17,260 all over the province.
Mayor JP Punzalan, along with the local council, barangay captains, health workers, and community volunteers, actively participated in the event.
