Silent heroes recognized: DSWD, Capitol Give ₱3,000 aid to 2,600 Bantay Bayan volunteers

In recognition of their tireless service and commitment to community safety, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Provincial Government of Pampanga granted ₱3,000 in financial assistance to over 2,600 Bantay Bayan volunteers during a distribution event held on October 17 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.

The cash aid was provided under DSWD’s Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP), benefiting volunteers from the towns of Bacolor, City of San Fernando, Mexico, Minalin, San Simon, and Sto. Tomas.

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda personally led the ceremony, thanking the volunteers for their invaluable role in maintaining peace and order at the grassroots level.

“You are the silent heroes of our barangays—serving not for salary, but for love of community. Because of you, our barangays are safer,” Governor Pineda said.

Vice Governor Pineda likewise expressed gratitude and pledged continued support for the province’s volunteer frontliners.

“Our Bantay Bayan volunteers are the heart of community safety. We see your efforts, we value your service, and we will always find ways to support you,” he said.

One of the recipients, Villamor Fajardo of Barangay Bulaon, City of San Fernando—who works as a tricycle driver by day and a Bantay Bayan volunteer by night—shared, “There’s no greater feeling than being able to help others. As long as I live and have strength, I will always be a Bantay Bayan.”

Beyond the monetary aid, the Capitol also distributed food packs for the volunteers and their families as a token of appreciation.

The event was attended by Board Member Lucky Labung, Dr. Kaye Naguit, and representatives from the DILG–Pampanga and Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPO).
