The newly rehabilitated southbound lane of the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) – Kamuning Flyover in Quezon City is now passable to all types of vehicles.

The Department of Public Works and Highways – National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) opened the flyover on Thursday, three months ahead of its target completion.

DPWH, in a social media post, said the rehabilitation works on the structure were completed in only 104 days due to the 24/7 retrofitting works implemented by the department and project contractors.

It added that the remaining retrofitting works under the flyover are ongoing to strengthen the bridge’s resistance to earthquakes.

The DPWH assured that no closures will be implemented and the usual traffic flow in the area will not be hampered while the remaining retrofitting works are being done.

According to DPWH-NCR Director Loreta Malaluan, the retrofitting works not only enhanced the structural integrity of the flyover but also ensures the safety and convenience of daily commuters.

She said the project is part of DPWH-NCR’s commitment to providing high-quality, safe, and resilient infrastructures in preparation for “The Big One” earthquake. (Philippine News Agency)
