Twenty-five persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) are undergoing Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I training under a program conducted by the TESDA Regional Training Center Mariveles, which began on January 13, 2026.

The 34-day training, now on its 12th day, involves 20 male and five female PDLs who are gaining hands-on welding skills aimed at preparing them for employment and livelihood opportunities after release.
The initiative forms part of ongoing rehabilitation and skills development efforts to help PDLs build confidence, self-reliance, and improve their chances of successful reintegration into society.
