The city government is strengthening its disaster preparedness initiatives through Project Talagháy, a program aimed at improving early warning systems in flood-prone communities.
Mayor Susan Yap said the city recently participated in a discussion on the project with the Philippine Preparedness Partnership, which seeks to enhance disaster readiness, particularly in barangays located near the Tarlac River.
Under the initiative, river level warning markers will be installed and monitoring systems improved to help communities better anticipate possible flooding and allow authorities to issue timely alerts to residents.
Yap emphasized that the program forms part of the city government’s continuing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and ensure safer, more resilient communities for Tarlaqueños.
