WITH just a few days before the May 12 midterm elections, I am pretty sure that the political dust has already settled and Tarlaqueรฑo voters have already decided on who to vote for senators, party list, congressional representative, governor, vice governor, board members, city or municipal mayor and vice mayor and city or municipal councilors.
Tarlaqueรฑo voters made up their minds already, especially so that the much-awaited anointment of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) is already known to all members and also to all voters as it was already been revealed.
The major players in this yearโs political exercise in Tarlac province are Team MaYap and Team Angeles in which, they are now in direct collision with one another.
In their quest to seek higher office and to show how powerful they already are in the local political scene, Paniqui Mayor Max Roxas, the Angeles FamilyโMayor Cristy, Vic and Councilor KT all bolted the Nationalist Peopleโs Coalition and joined the newly formed Partido Federal ng Pilipinas saying that it is the party of President BBM therefore placing them in a much better position to be elected into their desired positions.
Roxas opted to seek the governorship and is pitted against incumbent Congressman Cristian Tell Yap, Cristy Angeles is targeting the second congressional district versus former Congressman and Governor Vic Yap, Vic Angeles is up against sitting Governor Susan Yap and KT has locked horns with Councilor Ace Manalang.
But what are the chances of Team Angeles against Team Mayap? In all the different online polls and the face-to-face survey conducted by this paper, the Team of the Yaps are ahead of them. Another glaring evidence of the dominance of Team MaYap is the huge crown that gather in their every sortie and motorcade.
Now comes the anointment of the INC. The Yaps have been chosenโtheir anointment all the more strengthened their position to be elected. Although Win-Win Manalang failed to get the nod of the INC, still, his chances of victory are high owing to the fact that he has the Yaps on his side as they will surely double their efforts in campaigning for him.
But why Team MaYap and not Team Angeles for the anointment? Well, those who belong to the MaYap team have clean records to showโฆthis I cannot say about the other team.
Team Angeles trolls and fake news spreaders were also a big factor to their eventual defeat as people are not very fond of pretenders.
Their road to their aspired position is tough right from the start and they all knew it since day one. Now that the anointment of the INC came out in favor of Team MaYap, the road to victory for Team Angeles became tougherโฆand they have to accept defeat as the Yaps and the Team MaYap-NPC are already poised for victory.
