Henley & Partners has released the 2026 Henley Passport Index, ranking Singapore as the world’s most powerful passport for the second straight year, with visa-free access to 192 destinations.

Japan and South Korea tied for second place with access to 188 destinations, followed by several European countries that continue to dominate the top of the list. Afghanistan remained at the bottom, with visa-free access to just 24 destinations, highlighting a widening global mobility gap.

The Philippines ranked 73rd in the 2026 index, reflecting more limited visa-free travel compared to top-ranked countries in Asia and Europe.

Marking its 20th anniversary, the Henley Passport Index is based on Timatic data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and measures passports by the number of destinations their holders can enter without a prior visa.

Henley & Partners Chairman Dr. Christian H. Kaelin said global mobility has expanded over the past two decades but remains unevenly distributed, with passport strength closely linked to political stability, economic power, and diplomatic reach.

The index also showed a continued long-term decline for traditionally strong passports such as those of the United States and the United Kingdom, underscoring ongoing shifts in global influence and mobility.
