Filipino excellence once again shone on the global stage as Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) clinched a gold medal at the 2025 Toyota Asia Pacific Skills Contest (ASPAC) held in Chachoengsao, Thailand.
Eduardo Lazo Jr. of TMP’s Manufacturing Division bested competitors from Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam to win the ‘Quality Control – Team Leader’ category. He showcased expertise in engine inspection, torque tightening, fitting checks, and color matching—skills that highlight the world-class capabilities of the Filipino workforce in the automotive industry.

This marks TMP’s fourth ASPAC gold since joining the competition in 2006, reinforcing its strong track record in people development. ASPAC, a Toyota Motor Asia program, hones the multi-skill capabilities of line team members across the region to maintain global competitiveness in manufacturing.
With 11 years at TMP, Lazo exemplifies the talent and dedication of the company’s 2,000-strong workforce at its Laguna plant, which produces proudly Philippine-made vehicles such as the Vios, Innova, and Tamaraw. TMP continues to invest in skills development and expanded production, supported by a PHP 5.5-billion investment and the establishment of the TMP Conversion Factory for the Tamaraw.
Beyond its plant, TMP’s impact extends to its Toyota Suppliers Club, providing jobs to about 60,000 Filipinos across small and medium enterprises in the local automotive supply chain.
