UnionBank sets new standard with Zero-Touch Digital Payroll Onboarding

UnionBank of the Philippines is redefining payroll account opening with the launch of Zero-Touch Onboarding, the country’s first fully digital payroll onboarding solution that requires no manual intervention—putting speed, efficiency, and businesses first.

Traditionally burdened by paperwork, long processing times, and heavy administrative work, payroll onboarding has long challenged HR and operations teams. Zero-Touch Onboarding eliminates these pain points by digitizing the entire process end to end. Built on UnionBank’s award-winning Business Banking platform, The Portal, the solution cuts onboarding time from up to two weeks to less than 24 hours, allowing employees to receive salary crediting as early as the next day after completing their account opening.

Through the platform, employees simply scan a QR code generated via The Portal and complete the account opening process in minutes using the UnionBank Online app—no forms, no follow-ups, and no delays. Verification, approval, and activation are handled entirely by UnionBank, while HR teams gain instant visibility of account details without processing individual documents.

The new solution builds on UnionBank’s earlier innovation, eDAO (ePaycard Digital Account Opening), launched in 2021 as the country’s first digital payroll onboarding option. Zero-Touch Onboarding takes this a step further by delivering a truly hands-free experience for organizations.
