The Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr., conducted a workshop for the formation of the city’s Local Tourism Development Plan. The workshop, which took place on August 29, was facilitated by Department of Tourism Region 3 Division Chief Ronsan Pelariza and Maan Banawa.
With the formulation of the development plan, Mayor Lazatin wishes to boost the tourism in the city especially, particularly gastro-tourism.
“Gusto pa nating pasiglahin ang turismo sa siyudad, at isang effective way para maka-attract tayo ng maraming turista ay sa pamamagitan ng mga pagkaing Angeleño,” Lazatin said.
According to the Department of Tourism (DOT), gastro-tourism, also known as culinary or food tourism, is the exploration of food as the purpose of tourism.
Dubbed as the Culinary Capital of the Philippines, Angeles City has always been a favorite destination for foodies, Angeles City Tourism Officer Anneleen Sugui said.
Also present during the workshop are Angeles City Traffic Development Officer Kiko Pangilinan, City Engineer Donato Dizon and Kuliat Foundation Inc. president Lincoln M. Baluyut.
