Youth and cause-oriented groups staged a protest rally on Tuesday in front of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, to denounce alleged corruption in flood control projects.
The demonstration was led by the Kilusan para sa Pambansang Demokrasya (KILUSAN), together with the Youth for Nationalism and Democracy and the Alternative Politics Movement (AlterPol). Protesters called for accountability from officials and contractors accused of pocketing funds from projects meant to address flooding in Central Luzon.

The rally began at 10 a.m. and drew participants from Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, and Bataan.
In their statement, the groups said corruption in flood control projects worsened the plight of residents already suffering from floods and the effects of the climate crisis.
“Habang lubog sa baha ang mamamayan, kumikita ang mga tiwali sa pamahalaan,” the groups said, urging government to “defend public funds and hold corrupt officials accountable.”
