A total of 10 Super Health Centers (SHC) are currently being built in Nueva Ecija. This was announced by Department of Health (DOH) Nueva Ecija Development Management Officer IV Clesther Jose Espinosa in the recent episode of the Leaders In Focus program of the Philippine Information Agency.
He declared that these projects are covered by the General Appropriations Act of 2022 and 2023 which are being built in strategic locations to ensure that they can provide services to the 849 barangays covered by the province.
The 10 said facilities are located in the towns of Santo Domingo, Rizal, San Leonardo, Laur, Carranglan, Zaragoza, Llanera, and Bongabon, and in the cities of Cabanatuan and Muñoz.
The agency hopes that by the end of this year, the construction of the new facilities will be completed for the benefit of the citizens.
According to Espinosa, the purpose of building the SHC or also called Primary Care Facility is to provide free and quality services to the citizens.

According to Espinosa, the construction of each facility costs six to 10 million pesos in addition to the two million pesos fund for the purchase of medical equipment.
He clarified that local governments are responsible for the lot where the facility is built, the purchase of additional equipment and the assignment of personnel.
Aside from the SHC, the DOH is also focusing on the development of barangay or rural health unit facilities and the assignment of doctors, nurses and midwives in order to meet the needs of health services in the communities.
Currently there is also a Molecular Laboratory under construction at the San Jose City General Hospital that will add to the previous similar facilities located at Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center (Dr. PJGMRMC) and Manuel V. Gallego Cabanatuan City General Hospital.
Espinosa also announced that Dr. PJGMRMC in the Service Delivery Network, which is being designated as a Regional Heart Center in response to the high number of people suffering from cardiovascular disease.
It can be remembered that last year the new Emergency Room, Operating Room Complex, and Burn Center of Dr. PJGMRMC. (PIA 3)
