A total of 1,484 police officers have been dispatched across Central Luzon to ensure the safety of travelers during the Lenten season and the upcoming summer months, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 announced on Wednesday.
According to PRO3 Director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, the deployment aligns with the directive from Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil to bolster security efforts and maintain peace and order during the peak vacation season.
“These police personnel are strategically positioned across popular travel destinations and convergence areas. Additionally, we’ve set up 602 police assistance desks to offer immediate assistance and ensure the safety of the public,” Fajardo said in a statement.
Fajardo emphasized that the main goal is to prevent crimes and guarantee public safety, particularly in areas where crowds typically gather. She highlighted the importance of proactive security measures and assistance efforts to ensure that the public enjoys a worry-free summer season.
The PRO3 is working closely with local government units (LGUs), other government agencies, and private organizations to enhance security operations. Police presence has been bolstered with the establishment of assistance hubs along major roads, and the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) has deployed road safety marshals to manage traffic and reduce congestion.
Furthermore, advocacy support groups and force multipliers are assisting in increasing police visibility through more frequent patrols.
“Safety is a shared responsibility, and we encourage the public to partner with us in maintaining peace and order,” Fajardo added. “Together, we can ensure a safe and enjoyable SUMVAC (Summer Vacation) 2025 for everyone.” (Philippine News Agency)
