700 Tarlac town residents benefit from new deep well and community garden

Around 700 residents of Sitio Burog in Barangay San Vicente, Bamban, Tarlac now have improved access to clean water and sustainable food sources, thanks to the newly inaugurated 150-meter deep well facility and a community garden launched through a multi-agency collaboration.

The initiative was led by Clark Development Corporation (CDC) in partnership with Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI), Manila Water Foundation, Clark Water Corporation, Bloomberry Cultural Foundation Inc., and World Vision Development Foundation.

CDC Vice President for Security Services Lina Sarmiento highlighted the importance of inclusive development for communities adjacent to the Clark Freeport Zone.

“We are grateful to our partners for helping uplift Sitio Burog, a community that represents the identity and resilience of Central Luzon,” said Sarmiento. “As neighboring areas grow and modernize, we must ensure that Sitio Burog progresses with them and is not left behind.”

Alongside the water facility and garden, 30 goats were distributed to Ayta families in the area as part of a livelihood assistance initiative designed to promote long-term food security and community empowerment.

The project is part of the Roots to Shoots program, a three-year collaborative effort led by PSFI that addresses health and nutrition, food security, livelihood, and access to water, sanitation, and hygiene in underserved communities nationwide. (PIA 3-Tarlac | Maria Asumpta Estefanie C. Reyes)
