Eleven local government units (LGUs) in Bulacan are ready for the implementation of Tara, Basa! sa Barrio, a program aimed at strengthening community support for children’s reading development.
A total of 120 parents or guardians of incoming Grade 2 students in the province were targeted during a simultaneous Community Assembly designed to orient them on the program’s implementation and requirements.
During the assembly, parents were assisted in opening LandBank accounts, where their participation incentives will be deposited for every session they attend.
Personnel from the Tara, Basa! Program–Regional Program Management Office 3 also ensured that beneficiaries were registered with PhilSys through the Basta Beripikado, Mabilis ang Serbisyo or BBM Serbisyo online platform.
The Tara, Basa! sa Barrio program will begin on September 21 and will be implemented in 11 municipalities across Bulacan.
It seeks to strengthen reading support at the community level, with families, tutors, youth development workers and other program advocates working together to address the specific learning needs of each student.
