About 13,000 jobs are available from 100 participating employers during the 2023 Labor Day job fairs in Central Luzon with a theme “Pabahay, Bilihing Abot-Presyo, Benepisyo ng Matatag na Trabaho Para sa Manggagawang Pilipino.” for this year celebration.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Director Geraldine Panlilio said job fairs on May first will be at SM City Pampanga, SM City San Jose del Monte, SM City Marilao, SM City Cabanatuan, and the SMX Convention Center of SM City Olongapo Central.
Post-Labor Day job fairs will be on May 3 at People’s Center in Balanga City and on May 4 at Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in Malolos City.
“We hope that those who want to get jobs will join our activities. These activities aim to give services for you. Also, I would like to say that DOLE will always be here to provide you your needed services,” Panlilio said.
Panlilio reminded job hunters to bring employment documents such as resumes and photos when they go to the sites. She assured that the job application processes on-site will be faster than applying online.
Various government agencies participated in the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa where goods are being sold at prices lower than those in the market.
The caravan will be available in Clark Freeport Zone and Freeport Area of Bataan. Meanwhile, Panlilio emphasized that laborers are in good condition especially with Central Luzon’s booming economy.
Per data from DOLE, about 5,523,000 Central Luzon residents are employed, as of January 2023. This is 95.7 percent of the total labor force. The number of underemployed is now at 375,000, while there are 248,000 unemployed residents. (PIA Tarlac)
