13K police deployed across Central Luzon for Holy Week

The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has significantly expanded its security deployment for Holy Week, mobilizing more than 13,000 personnel across Central Luzon to ensure a safe and orderly observance from March 29 to April 5, 2026.

From an initial 2,000 personnel, the number has been scaled up to include nearly 9,000 PRO3 police officers, over 1,000 augmentation forces, and around 3,500 force multipliers and advocacy groups, reflecting a whole-of-community approach to public safety.

PRO3 will also be placed under full alert status starting March 30, boosting police visibility, rapid response capability, and operational readiness throughout the region.

PRO3 Regional Director PBGEN Jess B. Mendez said the increase in deployment is in response to the expected surge of travelers, pilgrims, and devotees during the Holy Week period.

“From our initial 2,000 personnel, we scaled up to more than 13,000 to ensure that our presence is felt where it matters most. As more of our countrymen take to the roads and gather in churches and other places of worship, we are strengthening our forces to ensure their safety,” Mendez said.

To maintain operational readiness, regional staff are conducting inspections in key deployment areas to assess personnel preparedness and responsiveness.

Police presence has been intensified through foot and mobile patrols, while Police Assistance Desks and Centers have been established in churches, transport terminals, major highways, and other convergence areas. Road safety marshals have also been deployed to manage traffic and assist motorists.

As early as Palm Sunday, police personnel are set to secure places of worship and ensure the smooth conduct of religious activities.

Mendez emphasized that the goal is to allow families to observe Holy Week in peace.

“Our objective is clear—every family should be able to reflect and observe Holy Week safely and peacefully. We remain on standby and ready to respond to any situation,” he added.

The initiative aligns with the directive of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. to strengthen community-oriented policing, ensuring fast, honest, and reliable public service across Central Luzon.
