Twenty Angeleña lasses made it through the official selection of candidates for the prestigious Mutya Ning Angeles 2022. The screening was held September 3 at the Prime City Hotel.
The MNA 2022 is a project of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. and the Angeles City government and is co-presented by the Beautéderm Corporation led by President and Chief Executive Officer Rei Anicoche-Tan, after two years of hiatus due to the pandemic.
Designers and stylists Rosette Ramos-Biag, Frederick Policarpio, and Marlon Tuazon were among the members of the screening committee.
Also present during the screening were the heads of the working committee: Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina, joined by Angeles City Tourism Officer-in-Charge Anneleen Antonio-Sugui, Angeles City Economic Development Investment and Promotions Head Irish Bonus-Llego, ACTO Consultant Cecille Flores-Sanchez, Marna Dagumboy-Del Rosario, Poklong Guina, and Gerome Esguerra.
“There were 27 applicants who attended the screening today. And all of them were very impressive. Out of the 27, the committee has chosen 20 official candidates,” Manuel said.
“In fact, we also accepted walk-in applicants earlier, as long as they were qualified and had their requirements,” Manuel added.
According to Antonio-Sugui, the candidates were from barangays Amsic, Anunas, Balibago, Capaya, Cutcut, Lourdes Sur, Mining, Ninoy Aquino, Pandan, Lourdes Northwest, San Jose, Sapangbato, Sta. Teresita, Sto. Cristo, Claro M. Recto, Sapalibutad, and Pulung Cacutud.
“We would also like to thank the Prime City Hotel and Giada’s Cafe for hosting us today. They are among the sponsors of MNA 2022,” Antonio-Sugui shared.
The MNA 2022 is set on Dec. 8, 2022 at the Grand Palazzo Royale where the grand winner will get P1 million worth of prizes.
To recall, the pageant was created in 1992 after the Mt. Pinatubo eruption. Its first coronation night was held at the Holy Angel University (HAU), with Crisanta Delfin as the first title holder.
