5,000 Angeleño kids to get free Vitamin C

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has instructed the City Nutrition Office to distribute Vitamin C supplements to some 5,000 Angeleño kids, aged 0 to 24 months, in all 33 barangays of the city via house-to-house delivery beginning on February 7, 2022.

This was confirmed by City Nutrition Officer Donatila Guanzon, who met about the plan with Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, and Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles to discuss the matter.

“Nais ko pong samantalahin ang pagkakataon na ito para pasalamatan po ang administrasyon ni Mayor Lazatin sa patuloy na pagsuporta sa mga batang nangangailangan ng Vitamins,” Guanzon said.

According to Manuel, the Angeles City government remains true to its mission to promote the welfare and health of all Angeleño youth by strengthening existing programs that aim to prioritize them.

Mayor Lazatin will continue to provide programs that will prioritize Angeleño kids, especially when it comes to proper nutrition, Calaguas echoed.

In November 2021, children with the same age bracket also received their Vitamins C.

The allocated P12 million for the procurement of milk has benefited 50,723 children in the city’s 33 barangays last April 2020.

On the other hand, a highlight of Mayor Lazatin’s program for children was the achieved target number for the “Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio,” a nationwide campaign of the Department of Health for the distribution of the oral anti-polio vaccine.

A total of 43,392 children were vaccinated during the first wave, while 47,052 were jabbed during the second wave, giving Angeles City the highest recorded number of vaccinations in the entire Region III.
