₱87.81-MILLION ROAD REHABILITATION IN NUEVA ECIJA IMPROVES COMMUTER TRAVEL
Around 13,000 daily commuters now enjoy safer and more efficient travel following the completion of the ₱87.81-million road rehabilitation project along the Cabanatuan City–Carmen Road in Aliaga, Nueva Ecija.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) upgraded a 3.83-kilometer, two-lane national road using Portland concrete cement pavement, reducing travel time between Barangays San Felipe Bata and Zaragoza Proper to just 18 minutes.
DPWH Regional Director Roseller Tolentino said the road had suffered significant deterioration due to heavy traffic and prolonged wear, creating congestion that disrupted economic activities. The damaged pavement also posed safety risks and led to frequent delays and vehicle damage.
“The completion of this ensures a more reliable and safer route for thousands of road users daily, significantly improving accessibility and overall travel experience in the area. This aligns with the objectives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Build Better More program,” Tolentino said.
Funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act, the project also included shoulder construction and the installation of a cross drain, benefiting residents of Barangays San Juan, Bucot, Santo Tomas, Macabucod, and Carmen.
