Angeles City Nutrition Month kicks off

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. remains true to his mission to promote the welfare and health of all Angeleño youth by strengthening existing programs that aim to prioritize them.

Mayor Lazatin, together with the members of the City Nutrition Office, on July 4, 2022 led the house-to-house distribution of Vitamin A supplements to the 86 kids from Barangay Pulung Cacutud.

Some 20,280 kids aged 6 to 59 months from the 33 barangays will receive Vitamin A supplements from the city government via house-to-house.

Mayor Lazatin said this is in line with the city government’s Nutrition Month celebration with the theme “New Normal keng nutrisyun, sama-samang gawan ng solusyon.”

“Mayor Lazatin gives emphasis on the need to protect the children from any harm carried by the present-day virus,” City Nutrition Officer-in-Charge Jermaine Jam Aguila said.

The city government also launched a bun with malunggay called “pusong mamon” to continue its fight against malnutrition.

A total of 1,500 chidren aged 5 and below were identified as malnourished.

Amid the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Lazatin continues to push for programs that will prioritize the health and welfare of Angelenos kids, especially when it comes to providing proper nutrition to the marginalized sector.
