Mabalacat City launches Bangon Nutrisyon Project, 10 families benefit
To strengthen the city’s nutrition interventions and highlight the importance of nutrition in recovery, the Mabalacat City Government – City Nutrition Office (MCG-CNO) on Monday, July 25, launched the Bangon Nutrisyon Project (BNP) at Jade Hall, Xevera Mabalacat.
BNP is a flagship program of MCG-CNO, focusing on its fight against malnutrition in the city. A holistic nutrition package is provided to selected nutritionally-at-risk individuals and family to help support and improve their nutritional and economical status.

The said package includes assistance and services from various sectors of the City Nutrition Committee (CNC) such as provision of nutrition food packages, seed capital for livelihood, nutritional assessment and nutrition promotion lecture, family planning counselling, livelihood training and job placement activities.
According to CNO, the services are anchored and integrated with the 12 Pillars of Good Governance of MCG – which aims to not only alleviate malnutrition but also improve the health, food-security and the holistic well-being of Mabalaquenians.

Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, along with Vice Mayor Atty. Gerald Aquino, Councilors Liza Pineda and Cherry Manalo, graced the event with their presence and thanked the CNO, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and Barangay Nutrition Committees (BNC) in their commitment in serving their fellow Mabalaquenians.
“I am grateful to the people behind the Bangon Nutrisyon Project for your sincere dedication and hard work. Nutrition and health is among our priorities in this city. This project will not be possible without your support,” Garbo said.
A total of 10 families received the Nutrition Package which were carefully selected by the BNC and BNS based on various criteria including a household with pregnant woman or adolescent with low body measurement index and a malnourished child, a family of five to seven members, and breadwinners in the family who has lost their job amid the pandemic.
Through the BNP, CNO hopes to also further stimulate discussions on how to improve Mabalacat City’s nutritional status as well as encourage more active participation and support from various sectors in implementing nutrition services in the city. (Mabalacat City CIO)
