Ma-ri-mar, au!
Mexican singer-actress Thalia recreated her famous character Marimar, which captured the hearts of fans around the world two decades ago.
Turns out, the magic is still there!
“Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that this character would be a part of me during my lifetime,” Thalia said.
At the age of 50, Thalia still fits the 20-year-old iconic dress she wore in Marimar.
Marimar was shown in Mexico in 1994 and in the Philippines later the same year.
It is a telenovela about a poor, innocent girl who lives with her grandparents in a hut on the beach and falls in love with Sergio, the son of a wealthy ranch owner.
It became famous in the Philippines and was dubbed in Tagalog.
Marimar also spawned a Philippine adaptation which starred married couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes in 2007 and later on, GMA Network remade it again in 2015 starring Megan Young and Tom Rodriguez.
Thalia is referred to as the Queen of Latin Pop and considered one of the most successful and influential Mexican artists.
