TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a flood mitigation project along the Bangot River in Capas, Tarlac.
The 557.20-meter structure is in the barangay Sta. Lucia section of the waterway.
DPWH Tarlac 2nd District Engineer Edward Ricardo Ramos said it was built on the right bank to protect residential communities and agricultural lands from flooding.
“This will keep residents safe and allow the continuity of all economic and social activities even during the rainy season,” Ramos added.
The newly constructed infrastructure is connected to the existing concrete river walls that serve as the community’s first line of protection during calamities and help prevent the possible overflow of the Bangot River.
A total of P94.5 million was allocated in the 2022 General Appropriations Act for its implementation. (PIA 3)
