Gayak Angeleño: Elegance meets charity in one grand event

Glitz, glamour, elegance and charity all came together in GAYAK ANGELEÑO, the Mutya Ning Angeles 2022 Charity Gala Night held last Saturday, October 29, at the height of Typhoon Paeng.

The elegant Terno took center stage, as unique versions of the Philippine design icon executed by Mich Viray, Bhraye Adefuin, RJ Guevarra, Rich Sabinian, Bryan Henson, Carl John Miranda, Manny Ocampo, Richard De Jesus, Jhune Angeles, Cholo Ayuyao, Philip Torres, Glenn Pablo, Clarence Ayuyao, Jojo Macapinlac, Marlon Tuazon, Rosette Ramos-Biag, and Frederick Policarpio were showcased by the Mutya Ning Angeles official candidates.

At Gayak Angeleño, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin, Jr. was duly represented by Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, who were all wearing Jojo Macapinlac.

Typhoon Paeng notwithstanding, the spirit of charity was not dampened, and as a matter of fact, prevailed at Gayak Angeleño, which was able to raise at least of ₱225,000.00: ₱100,000.00 from the Angeles City Fashion Designers Guild; ₱50,000.00 from Mayor Pogi; ₱50,000.00 from Rei Tan and Beautederm Corporation; and ₱25,000.00 from Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel.

The beneficiary of Gayak Angeleño is Anak Bale Balayan, whose executive director, renowned and multi-awarded Kapampangan artist Peter A. De Vera, said that the proceeds will be used to buy new instruments for the art center.

Mayor Lazatin expressed his gratitude to the local designers who organized and graced the event, and for their help in the alternative livelihood program of the city government where their designs were used in making reusable facemasks and PPEs.

Gayak Angeleño was organized by the Angeles City Fashion Designers Guild, which is headlined by Marlon Tuazon, Jojo Macapinlac, Rosette Ramos Biag, and Frederick Policarpio.
