Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte is the guest speaker of the 2023 General Assembly of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines held in The Manila Hotel on February 21, 2023.

She emphasized the importance of local chief executives in ensuring that government development programs to reach the people and warned local chief executives not to hire public teachers based on favors or patronage so as not to hinder the quality of education for the learners.

“Let us remain true to the call of public service, foster lasting progress within our communities, and carry on with the crucial task of nation building with the outmost integrity and democratic accountability,” she stressed.

He also extended his gratitude to the mayors for their support to make DepEd’s Basic Education Learning Recovery Plan a success to meet the educational challenges from the pandemic.

LMP assembly is a country wide conference for municipal mayors and serve as an avenue for updating and discussions on developmental endeavors.

LMP National Treasurer Apalit Mayor Jun Tantengco is also present during the assembly.
