Angeles City to install murals in Santungan, Heritage District

Mayor Lazatin with Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Angeles City Tourism Officer-in-Charge Anneleen Antonio-Sugui and Norman Tiotuico during a meeting on Oct. 11, 2021.

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. on October 12, 2021 met with Angeleño artist Norman Tiotuico, to exchange views about the proposed mural that will be installed at the back of the Museo Ning Angeles and at the Santungan Cultural Hub Project under the Abacan Bridge.

This is to uplift the cultural scene in the city and to develop cultural awareness among Angeleños through art.

Mayor Lazatin was joined by Chief Adviser and Tactician IC Calaguas and Angeles City Tourism Officer-in-Charge Anneleen Sugui during the meeting with Tiotuico.

This is part of Mayor Lazatin’s show of support to local artists who continue honing their craft, especially amid the pandemic.

“Nais kong pasalamatan ang mga Angeleño artists na boluntaryong nagbahagi ng kanilang talento at panahon, upang matulungan ang city government sa pagtataguyod pa ng sining at kultura sa siyudad,” Lazatin said.

Part of the agenda in the meeting also is to request a resolution from the City Council urging business establishments to support the activities of local artists.

Mayor Lazatin also vowed to extend his full support to Angeleño artists and guarantee them that they can display their art works at the soon-to-launch Book Café inside the Angeles City Library.

The Book Café will serve as a venue for residents of the city to enjoy a good book and appreciate amazing art works, while sipping our very own locally produced Angeleño coffee.

Tiotuico is a Kapampangan language and indigenous script (kulitan) advocate, whose love for his language is matched by his love for his art.

He is also an installation and visual artist and considered as one of the deviant artists in Angeles City.
