With the theme “Bolstering the Creative Industries to Support MSME Growth”, the Department of Trade and Industry Regional Office III (DTI-3) will hold Touchpoint 4.0 – a Central Luzon Business Conference on April 27, 2023 via Zoom online platform and live streamed through official Facebook page DTI Region 3 – Central Luzon.
On its fourth run, Touchpoint aims to promote the potentials of the country’s Creative Industry and help it move forward. The online conference will showcase current trends, updates, and innovations in the industry. The creative industry includes audiovisual media, creative services, digital interactive media, design, publishing and printed media, performing arts, visual arts, traditional cultural expressions, cultural sites, and other emerging segments.
DTI-3 is expecting more than 500 participants including entrepreneurs engaged in creative industry, local government officials, officers of national agencies, students and members of the academe, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), business chambers, and members of consumer organizations to join the virtual conference.
Touchpoint 4.0 will cover topics like trends in the creative industry in the new normal, government/institutional support, and managing intellectual property for the creative sectors.
Pangasinan fourth district Representative Christopher de Venecia will serve as a keynote speaker for the conference. De Venecia who chairs the House special committee on creative industries is expected to present the government’s policy support to the country’s creative industries. He is the principal author of Republic Act 11904 or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act which seeks to help the industry grow and set the country as a leading creative economy in Asia.
Undersecretary Rowel S. Barba of the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) was invited to discuss Protecting Intellectual Property for the Creative Industries while DTI Undersecretary Rafaelita M. Aldaba of the Competitiveness and Innovation Group will discuss Revealing Possibilities in the Creative Industry of the Philippines. The Creative Economy Council of the Philippines (ECCP) was also invited to present the country’s roadmap for the industry.
DTI-3 OIC Regional Director Brigida T. Pili noted that it is high time for the creative industries to have institutionalized support from the government. “We have a good number of MSMEs engaged in creative industries in the region. This is why we will be holding this conference to give them insights on what the government has in place for them and hopefully help the industry grow,” she said
