The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) provided various types of livelihoods to 5,343 individuals during the Labor Day celebration held in different parts of Bulacan.
Most of them are in the 3,834 beneficiaries of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD).
According to DOLE Provincial Director May Lynn Gozun, the purpose of TUPAD is to support the families of the beneficiaries at a time when they are still looking for work.
Their wages amounting to P4,600 each for 11 days of work have been granted. DOLE has allocated P17.6 million for this.
About P8 million in livelihood grants were granted by DOLE to some 509 beneficiaries.
The biggest portion of this – P2 million – was utilized for the Lingap Kabuhayan project for 34 Rice, 11 Bread and Pastry, 28 Sewing Kits and 18 NegoKarts for the towns of Donya Remedios Trinidad, San Miguel, San Ildefonso and San Rafael.
The Lingap Kabuhayan Project received P1 million each for Bread and Pastry production in Meycauayan, Livelihood Assistance for the poor from the city of Baliwag, and Livelihood Stimulus Package for the workers most affected by the pandemic in the city of San Jose Del Monte.
Another P1 million each for livelihood packages in the towns of Bustos and Plaridel. A P1.5 million also for livelihood packages in the towns of Santa Maria, Norzagaray and Angat. Marginalized workers who sought help from the Provincial Government of Bulacan were granted P720 thousand worth of livelihood grants.
This includes one rice paddy, puto vending, paresan, fruit vending, sewing machine and kits, two rice paddies with room, three frozen goods, four NegoKarts and 18 Sari-Sari Store Packages that include Bigasan.
The needy who have no livelihood in the towns of Angat, Norzagaray and Santa Maria received livelihood grants of P500 thousand each Sari-Sari Store Package.
In Pandi, P300,000 worth of Rice Retailing Package was granted to Pagkakaisang Mamamayan Tungo sa Kaayusan.They are the former rebels who returned to the government.
About P300 thousand was also given to the Katuparan Village Homeowners Association which is an urban poor community in the town of Norzagaray.
This served as the initial investment for the construction of a large store accompanied by a rice mill.
About P250 thousand is for the Gintong Kusina Producers Cooperative for the purchase of equipment used in food processing such as the Automatic Integrated Packing Machine. Also, in the raw materials needed in Snack Productions such as making Crunchies, Curls and Foodblend products.
In this regard, Provincial Youth, Sports and Public Employment Service Office (PYSPESO) head Kenneth Ocampo-Lantin said that the DOLE is providing another amount of P20 million to the provincial government.
Another thousand Bulakenyos will benefit from this and will be provided with P20 thousand worth of Pangkabuhayan Packages.
The system requires a beneficiary to undergo free training by PYSPESO to ensure that the basic goods to be provided can be used correctly.
It also announced that 40 individuals will be given the Sari-Sari Store Package with a total value of P1 million.
Meanwhile, Governor Daniel Fernando reminded the beneficiaries not to waste the opportunities provided by the government to earn a living.
He said this is the key to start standing on one’s own feet and grow the chosen profession. (PIA 3)
