The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has provided livelihood assistance to 1,981 individuals in Zambales under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.
Of the Zambaleño beneficiaries, 1,248 are from Olongapo City, while 733 are from San Marcelino.
According to DOLE Zambales Field Office Chief Reynante Lugtu, the wages amounting to P4,600 each for the 10 days worked have been granted.
The agency allocated a total of P9.11 million for this program. TUPAD is an emergency employment program of DOLE during calamities and crises.
Apart from the provision of immediate employment, the community will also benefit from other TUPAD efforts such as road cleaning, keeping the canals unclogged, beautifying specific areas in the barangay and others. (PIA 3)
