Mayor Pogi sets 3rd booster shots for health workers in city’s public, private hospitals

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has ordered the inoculation for the third booster of all health workers in the public and private hospitals in Angeles City via Ronda Bakuna Bus beginning today, July 17, 2023.

All health workers or those under A1 category, who have received the 2nd booster at least four (4) months earlier, will be administered the bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccines, which is the third booster for frontline healthcare workers.

Mayor Lazatin will deploy the city government’s Ronda Bakuna bus in all public and private hospitals to fast-track the inoculation of the health workers.

“Ginagawa po natin ito para sa goal ng siyudad na mabakunahan at bigyan ng dagdag proteksyon ang ating mga health workers dahil nandiyan pa rin po ang virus,” Lazatin said.

The Ronda Bakuna Bus will have doctors, nurses, health workers and support staff from City Health Office led by Dr. Verona Guevarra; Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office headed by Rodolfo Simeon; Office for Senior Citizens Affairs led by Eduardo Torres; and Gender and Development Office headed by Mina Cabiles.

According to Dr. Guevarra, it is recommended to take the booster shots in order to best stay protected from the virus.

The vaccination schedule for frontliners this week is as follows:
• July 17: Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center

To recall, Angeles City is the only Local Government Unit which launched a blended vaccination scheme — the Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay and the Sundo Bakuna sa Barangay.

This is being supervised by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, the chief implementer of the city government’s vaccination program.

This strategy was commended by the World Health Organization and the Department of Health.

To date, 407,817 Angeleños already received their first dose; 385,705 are fully vaccinated; while 100,032 got their first booster shots; and 15,975 for second booster shots.
