The Mabalacat City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO), in coordination with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and the Mabalacat City Traffic Enforcement Group (MCTEG) successfully rescued 22 street dwellers in the city.

Rescued along MacArthur Highway were 10 minor girls, 8 minor boys, 3 women and 1 man, who were found staying on the streets under vulnerable and potentially harmful conditions.

CSWDO head Josephine Tanglao said that some of the minors have been admitted to the city’s Drop-In Center where they will receive proper care and attention, including access to food, shelter, and psychosocial support aimed at their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

Individuals identified as having homes were endorsed by the CSWDO to their respective barangay officials, who will return them to their respective homes.

Mayor Crisostomo Garbo stated, “Our operation is not just about rescuing these individuals; it’s about restoring their dignity and ensuring they have access to the support and services they need. We are committed to working tirelessly to protect the most vulnerable members of our community and to provide them with a chance for a better life.”

The CSWDO reiterates its call to partners at the barangay level to remain vigilant and proactive in monitoring their constituents. This collaborative approach is crucial in safeguarding the welfare of every citizen and in preventing the recurrence of situations where individuals are forced to live on the streets.

The CSWDO extends its gratitude to the CDRRMO, MCTEG, and barangay officials for their unwavering support and cooperation in this operation.
