Angeles City has recorded zero confirmed case of COVID-19 today, November 16, 2021.
The city has seen a steady decline in the number of Covid-19 cases since October 2021 through the intensive vaccination drive of the city government led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.
Mayor Lazatin said the continuous drop in COVID-19 cases was possible through the hard work and dedication of the 400 working staff in the vaccination team headed by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, the chief implementer of the city government’s vaccination program, and all the medical frontliners battling COVID-19.
Although cases in the city constantly remain in the single digit and finally being zero, Mayor Lazatin is still encouraging his kababayans to stay vigilant and abide with the safety health protocols against COVID-19.
“Hindi pa rin po dapat tayo magpakampante. Let us still double our efforts on our part to maintain this situation of containing the virus,” Lazatin urges.
It was in 2020 that the city first recorded no new positive case of COVID-19.
To date, a total of 286,485 Angeleños already received their first dose of vaccines while 216,180 are already fully vaccinated.
Angeles City is only the Local Government Unit that launched a blended scheme vaccination drive via the house-to-house Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay using a mobile bus clinic, and the Sundo Bakuna sa Barangay program, that takes residents to the mega vaccination sites from their homes, using free services of six Philippine Rabbit buses and 10 jeepneys.
This strategy has been commended by the World Health Organization.
