The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) sign a 50-year contract for the lease of a hectare of land in New Clark City, which will become the official home of the countryโ€™s space agency.

PhilSA Director General Dr. Joel Joseph Marciano, Jr. and BCDA President and CEO Engr. Joshua Bingcang on Thursday, August 29, signed the contract of lease during an event held at the BCDA office in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. The event was also attended by PhilSA Deputy Director General for Space Operations, Infrastructure and Industry Denis Villorente, BCDA OIC for Conversion and Development Engr. Richard Cepe, as well as PhilSA Deputy Director General for Space Science and Technology Dr. Gay Jane Perez

โ€œWhat we [will] put in Clark is the countryโ€™s best foot forward in space economyโ€ฆThis is the first of many things to come. With this partnership, imagine what we can accomplish in the next five, 10 years or more,โ€ said Dr. Marciano Jr.

โ€œOnce built, we are confident that the Philippines will have one of the most modern space centers in Southeast Asia; and what better place for this to happen than in #NewClarkCity , the first smart and disaster-resilient city in the Philippines,โ€ said Engr. Bingcang.
