Bataan positive for Red Tide
The public is advised to refrain from gathering or harvesting, transporting, marketing or selling shellfish and Acetes (alamang) from the province until the toxicity level has gone below the regulatory limit.
Based on the latest laboratory results of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and Local Government Units (LGUs), shellfishes collected at coastal waters of Bataan (Mariveles, Limay, Orion, Pilar, Balanga, Hermosa, Orani, Abucay and Samal).
All types of shellfish and Acetes or alamang gathered from the areas are NOT SAFE for human consumption.
Fish, squids, shrimps and crabs are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking.
The latest Shellfish Bulletin released by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Central Office for the information of the general public. Reference: Shellfish Bulletin No. 33 Series of 2021,  dated December 2, 2021.
