PLDT Home celebrates mompreneurs through Gawad Madiskarte 2024, honoring the most innovative and sustainable businesses run by Filipino mothers.
Mothers in the Philippines are natural problem-solvers, finding creative ways to manage their families, businesses, and communities. During the pandemic, many women lost their jobs and embraced a new role—becoming “mompreneurs.” This led to the creation of the Madiskarte Moms PH (MMPH) online community, which now has 190,000 members helping each other achieve financial independence.
PLDT Home recognized early on that home-based businesses would be the future of entrepreneurship in the country. Through platforms like MMPH, mothers can learn new skills, manage their families, and run businesses all from home. The community has empowered thousands of moms, with over 24,900 trained in entrepreneurship and 450 becoming brand affiliates.
Gawad Madiskarte was established to celebrate the success of mompreneurs who are not only helping their families but also creating positive impacts on their communities. The awards, supported by PLDT Home, reflect the company’s commitment to nation-building and innovation.
Set for October 19, 2024, at Seda Hotel in BGC, Gawad Madiskarte will recognize mompreneurs in three categories: Diskarteng Angat, Diskarteng Eco-Friendly, and Diskarteng May-Puso, with awards for both start-ups and scale-ups. The winners will receive cash prizes and other business tools to help grow their businesses.
This year’s nominees include businesses that focus on sustainability, such as upcycling materials and minimizing waste. These mompreneurs are redefining what it means to build a business by prioritizing eco-friendly practices and supporting local communities.
