In a heartfelt initiative to uplift lives and offer new opportunities, the Insular Foundation has provided skills training for the residents of Haven for Women in Muntinlupa City. In collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) and Muntinlupa City Technical Institute (MCTI), the foundation launched a Training on Hairdressing and Nail Care Skills, designed to help women secure sustainable livelihoods.
As part of the program, the Insular Foundation also donated beauty kits, equipping each participant with essential tools and supplies to begin their journey, whether through home-based services or salon employment. This initiative forms part of a three-year partnership between Insular Foundation, Haven for Women, and MCTI, reinforcing their commitment to empowering women.
“Inaasahan namin na magagamit ninyo ang inyong natutunan sa aming handog na Skills Training and beauty kits on Hairdressing and Nail Care, upang paglabas ninyo dito sa Haven for Women ay mayroon kayong baon para simulan muli ng maganda ang inyong mga buhay,” shared Insular Foundation Executive Director Ana Soriano.
MCTI’s Operations Division Head Antonio Terrenal echoed this support, emphasizing the value of the training as a pathway toward self-reliance. “Huwag nating sayangin ang ganitong pagkakataon na skills training na ibinigay ng MCTI at Insular Foundation. Kayo din ang aani ng pagsasanay nyo dito dahil magagamit nyo ito sa pagbabagong-buhay at paghahanap-buhay,” he urged the women.
Expressing gratitude, Catherine Taleno, Social Welfare Officer III at Haven for Women, acknowledged the program’s role in advancing the center’s mission to empower survivors of gender-based violence. “Lubos po ang pasasalamat namin sa partnership na ito with MCTI and Insular Foundation. The government cannot do it alone. We need the assistance of our partners to achieve our goal,” she said.
