A hundred farmers from Porac and Floridablanca, Pampanga, proudly graduated from SM Foundationโs Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan on Sustainable Agriculture (KSK) program in a ceremony held on November 13 at SM City Clarkโs Skyline.
Cultivating Sustainable Futures
The KSK program, launched in 2007, is SM Foundation, Inc.โs flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiative focused on sustainable agriculture. By providing training in modern planting techniques and sustainable urban gardening, the program equips farmers to enhance the quality and yield of their produce.
In collaboration with key partners including the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Tourism (DOT), and St. Isidore the Farmer School, KSK also aims to cultivate the next generation of farmer-entrepreneurs.
Supporting Food Security and Livelihoods
Aligned with the governmentโs food security goals, KSK empowers farmers with skills to adapt to modern agricultural practices while creating alternative livelihood opportunities.
Speaking at the ceremony, SM Supermalls Senior Vice President Engr. Bien C. Mateo congratulated the graduates, emphasizing the importance of their role in advancing sustainable agriculture and ensuring food security in their communities.
A Legacy of Growth
Since its inception, KSK has been a steadfast initiative supporting Filipino farmers. This latest batch of graduates joins a growing community of empowered farmers equipped to contribute to their families’ well-being and the broader agricultural sector.
As SM Foundation continues to champion sustainable agriculture, the farmers of Porac and Floridablanca are poised to reap the benefits of their newfound skills and help build a more food-secure Philippines.
