European ambassadors praised the entries for the 17th Belenismo sa Tarlac, noting their exceptional creativity and cultural significance.
Czech Ambassador Karel Hejฤova commended the unique celebration in Tarlac, which features large-scale nativity scenes that go beyond the traditional household or church displays seen in Europe.
โThis tradition is unparalleled. The giant belens are extraordinary, and they have truly exceeded our expectations,โ Hejฤova said. She also lauded the strong sense of community and joy evident in the collaborative effort to create the belens.
Norwegian Ambassador Christian Lyster echoed these sentiments, noting the significant improvement in the entries compared to last year.
โLast year was impressive, but this yearโs belens are even more spectacular. This is a tradition unique to the Philippines, and itโs something Norwegians visiting during Christmas should not miss,โ Lyster said. He also expressed admiration for the cultural and musical performances that accompanied the displays.
Joining the ambassadors in visiting the nativity scenes were Vietnamese Ambassador Lai Thai Binh, Cambodian Ambassador Pan Peuv, and Myanmar Embassy Chargรฉ dโAffaires San Yu Kyaw.
This yearโs competition showcases 62 vibrant and intricate nativity representations, celebrating both artistry and faith while fostering community spirit throughout the province.
The envoys emphasized the importance of such traditions in preserving and promoting cultural heritage and encouraged visitors to explore Tarlac during the Christmas season.
