DREDGING OF CREEKS AND RIVERS TO REDUCE FLOODING IN SAN FERNANDO

After the release of a study on the flooding problem in Pampanga, Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda held a meeting this Monday with DPWH, Megaworld, and barangay captains near the Capitol to discuss plans to dredge 5,570 meters of creeks and rivers to allow floodwaters to drain more quickly from the center of San Fernando, where the Capitol is located.

Based on drone footage and on-the-ground assessments, the waterways have become shallow due to silt and garbage. There are also many illegal structures that have narrowed the creeks and rivers.

Governor Delta would like the people of Pampanga to have easy access to the Capitol to avail of government services, which will also benefit businesses in the city.

In addition, three pump stations are planned to be installed. Six backhoes are already available, and there is also funding for diesel. The barangay captains will assist in locating spoil sites.
