Army units to get new building
Key officials of the Department of National Defense, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and the Philippine Army led the capsule-laying ceremony on December 16, 2021 for the new and modern multi-storey building that will house two units of the Army.

BCDA Officer-in-Charge Aristotle Batuhan said the five-storey building in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City which is slated to be completed by the end of 2022, will enhance the working environment of the Special and Technical Staff of the Special Services Center (SSC) and the Division Administrative Control Center (DACC).

Batuhan said since its creation 29 years ago, BCDA has already contributed Php40 billion for the AFP Modernization Program that include Php11.12 billion for the replication of various facilities in Army, Navy, and Air Force bases.
“I am very much honored to be able to serve our biggest stakeholders — the soldiers — by doing our best under the BCDA’s mandate,” Batuhan said.
Philippine Army chief Maj. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., meanwhile, said the command will continue to implement programs for the morale and welfare of troops.
“The Philippine Army, as a people-centric organization, places a premium on human capital as the most important resource of the organization. As part of the command’s thrusts to lift the morale and welfare of troops while pursuing its modernization program, the Philippine Army continuously looks for better ways to serve the soldiers’ interests while they perform their duties,” Brawner said.
Defense Assistant Secretary Jesus Ray Avilla and AFP Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Andres Centino also joined the officials during an inspection of the site for the new facility. (Philippine Army)
