On April 8, 2025, the Angeles City government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., held a vibrant Sisig cooking demonstration in celebration of Filipino Food Month, or Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino. The event, which highlighted the theme “Sarap ng Pagkaing Pilipino, Yaman ng Ating Kasaysayan, Kultura at Pagkatao,” brought together renowned Angeleño chefs to showcase their unique takes on the iconic Filipino dish, Sisig.
Among the featured chefs were Eric Rivera, Assistant Chef at 25 Seeds Restaurant; Carmina Pangilinan, granddaughter of the “Legendary Sisig Queen” Aling Lucing; Emilia Aguarin of Batcha-Batchang Lutong Ulam; Jaymark Sumala, Chef at Mila’s Tokwa’t Baboy; and Annalyn Castañeda of Bhar’z Kitchen. These culinarians demonstrated their own recipes, adding a personal twist to the beloved pork dish that has become a symbol of Angeles City’s culinary heritage.

Mayor Lazatin expressed that the demonstration was aimed at showcasing Angeles City’s best-known dish—Sisig—and promoting the city’s rich gastronomic culture.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, who oversaw the event alongside Angeles City Tourism Officer-in-Charge Anneleen Antonio-Sugui, emphasized that this initiative is part of Mayor Lazatin’s priority program to boost the city’s gastrotourism. Manuel noted that this is the third cooking demonstration held under Mayor Lazatin’s leadership.
Antonio-Sugui also extended her gratitude to the local chefs for their participation and support. “Mayor Lazatin wants to highlight the incredible talent and food that our city has to offer, such as the famous Sisig of Angeles City,” she said.

The event was attended by various local officials, including IPMR Representative Carlos Salvador, SK Federation President Richard Gaza Jr., City Auditor Amelita Inovero, DILG Director Yvette Cosio, and other key figures from the city’s various departments.
Through events like this, the city continues to strengthen its identity as a hub for local gastronomy, celebrating the deep connections between food, culture, and history in Angeles City.
