Philippine Airlines (PAL) has confirmed that its first Airbus A350-1000 is now under assembly at the Airbus facility in Toulouse, France, marking a significant step in the airline’s fleet modernization program.

The aircraft, the first of nine ordered by the country’s flag carrier, is currently in the early stages of production. Airbus has begun assembling the plane’s major components, including the nose, fuselage sections, and wings, with systems in place for electricity, water, and air. Once assembled, the aircraft will undergo final outfitting and system integration.

PAL President Richard Nuttall said the airline expects to take delivery of the aircraft by the fourth quarter of 2025. “This next-generation aircraft will significantly increase our long-haul capacity and enhance the level of service we offer our passengers,” he said.

The A350-1000 is designed for ultra-long-range flights and will play a key role in expanding PAL’s transpacific and international operations. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, the aircraft offers a range of up to 16,100 kilometers and accommodates 382 passengers in a tri-class configuration: Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy.

PAL Executive Vice President and COO Atty. Carlos Luis Fernandez noted the aircraft’s strategic value: “The A350-1000 offers the flexibility to efficiently match capacity with growing demand, both regionally and globally.”

Eight additional A350-1000s are scheduled for delivery between 2026 and 2028. PAL, which currently operates a fleet of 79 aircraft, also expects the arrival of 13 new Airbus A321neo regional jets starting in 2026.
