Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda extended her gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for leading the distribution of financial assistance to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families affected by recent calamities, as Pampanga leaders reaffirmed their support for the welfare of migrant workers.
During the event in San Fernando, around 3,000 OFWs from 22 municipalities and cities received ₱5,000 each from the Department of Migrant Workers’ (DMW) AKSYON Fund, with an additional ₱5,000 aid from the Office of the President.

Governor Pineda described the activity as a testament to government unity in helping OFWs, stressing that through the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed with national and local agencies, no OFW will be left behind.
President Marcos highlighted the government’s solidarity with OFWs and their families, noting that while immediate assistance is important, long-term measures are equally vital to ensure stability and resilience.
Earlier, the DMW, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the Provincial Government of Pampanga, and local government units inked a MOA to intensify efforts against illegal recruitment and human trafficking. The agreement also includes mechanisms for prevention, protection, prosecution, reintegration, and expanded support services, including OFW Help Desks and the OFW Hospital.
The DMW confirmed that AKSYON Fund distribution will continue in other calamity-hit provinces, ensuring that assistance reaches more migrant workers nationwide.
