DOTr accelerates relocation site construction for NSCR-affected families

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is expediting the construction of relocation sites in Naic, Cavite for families affected by the North–South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project, following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to fast-track the project and ensure immediate housing for displaced residents.

Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez ordered the acceleration of the housing development, with funding provided by the DOTr. The project includes the completion of 82 three-storey buildings under the Social Housing Finance Corporation, with 12 buildings targeted for completion by December 2025 —providing homes for 360 families.

During a recent site visit, DOTr Assistant Secretary for Right-of-Way and Site Acquisition (ROWSA) IC Calaguas and Naic City Administrator Rodolfo Uy III, representing Mayor Rommel Magbitang, confirmed that the relocation compound will feature complete facilities such as a school, daycare centers, a rural health center, and a covered court.

“We extend our gratitude to the local government of Naic for their support, which ensures a smooth relocation process for affected families,” ASec. Calaguas said.

Meanwhile, the DOTr is also set to visit another relocation site this week in Angeles City, Pampanga, for residents affected by the same railway project.
