NLEX Corporation has completed shoulder improvement works from the Harbor Link Interchange to Marilao to help ease congestion and enhance road safety during peak travel periods.

The project covered about 10,000 linear meters in both directions and included clearing sand, grass, and debris; restoring proper cross-slope for better drainage; and adding a 150-mm base course in select areas to create a smoother, more stable shoulder surface.

“Clearing and upgrading the shoulders allows stalled vehicles to be assisted or removed faster, helping traffic return to normal more quickly,” said NLEX President and General Manager Luis S. Reñon. He noted that improved shoulders may also be opened for use in exceptional cases of heavy congestion under patrol supervision.

NLEX reminded motorists that shoulders are not for parking, idling, or resting, as they play a critical role in ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow.

NLEX Corporation is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the tollways unit of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
