Angeles City reaffirmed its commitment to animal welfare as the City Veterinary Office successfully staged “One Paw at a Time,” a heartwarming adoption and pet care event at the Infinity Amphitheater in Barangay Pulung Maragul. Led by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, the gathering brought together fur parents, animal lovers, barangay officials, and community advocates for a day that celebrated compassion, responsible pet ownership, and shared malasakit.

The event offered free rabies vaccinations, deworming, veterinary consultations, and on-site pet adoptions, allowing families to care for their pets while opening their homes to rescued animals. A highlight of the day was the successful adoption of eight pets by Malasakit na Angeleños, underscoring the city’s belief that care and responsibility extend to all living beings. Raffle prizes and interactive activities added to the festive atmosphere, making the experience memorable for both participants and their furry companions.
Animal welfare officers and barangay partners were also recognized for their continued dedication to strengthening Angeles City’s programs on rabies prevention, community education, and humane animal care. Under the leadership of Dr. Mario Samson Jr., the City Veterinary Office stands out as the only awardee in Region 3 recognized as a Model Dog Pound and Shelter, reflecting its innovative and effective implementation of the Rabies Program in support of the goal of a Rabies-Free Central Luzon by 2030. The city’s No-Kill Dog Pound remains a testament to compassion in action, proving that with the right systems and genuine care, every life truly matters.

The Angeles City Government extended its gratitude to the event’s generous partners and sponsors—Univet Nutrition & Animal Healthcare Company (UNAHCO), VetMate Farma Corporation, Zoetis Pet Care Philippines, Systems Plus College Foundation, Petsologist, Vet Precision Animal Health Center, RC Vet Products & Agri Inc., and Pet Royals Animal Hospital—for helping make the initiative a success. Angeleños who wish to adopt and become part of this growing community of responsible fur parents are encouraged to visit the City Veterinary Office, and take part in making a difference—one paw at a time. 🐾
