Hann Foundation Inc. took the lead in strengthening coastal protection in Sasmuan, Pampanga after turning over key support for the Sasmuan BakaOne, a sustainable mangrove conservation and restoration project, during a ceremony held on January 16, 2026.
HFI donated a speedboat and a mangroves nursery, supported the repair of a bamboo earth dike, and spearheaded the planting of nearly 400 pagatpat and bakawan mangrove seedlings in Barangay Bangkung Malapad.

The growing mangrove forest will serve as a natural defense against strong winds and waves, while also providing a habitat for birds and a breeding ground for fish, benefiting coastal communities.
Vice Governor Delta Pineda, on behalf of Governor Nanay Pineda, thanked Hann Foundation for its support and commitment to environmental protection. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) also partnered in the initiative.
Bangkung Malapad forms part of the 3,667-hectare Sasmuan Pampanga Coastal Wetland, recognized as the first Ramsar site in Central Luzon and the eighth in the country.
The turnover ceremony and mangrove planting activity were held at the Linear Park in Sasmuan, underscoring the role of private sector-led initiatives in advancing sustainable and resilient coastal ecosystems in Pampanga.
